On October 22, The Creative Writing Club will be hosting a reading event in conjunction with UNE Zephyr. Students can hear authors share poetry or short story excerpts, which will be followed by a Q&A segment. The poems will be selected from the 2024 Zephyr publication and from potential candidates for next year’s edition.
“It’s definitely a really emotionally touching event,” says Rachel Deren, president of the Creative Writing Club. Deren believes the arts deserve more recognition on UNE’s campus through events and activities like this reading. “It’s a big deal because we’re a STEM-oriented school,” she said.
The event will offer assorted drinks and snacks, including cookies, brownies, and hot cocoa.
Zephyr is an annual publication of creative works by UNE faculty and students. Written works, like short stories and poetry, are showcased alongside photography and other visual arts.
The event will take place on Tuesday, October 22, at 6:30 PM in the UNE Art Gallery at the Jack S. Ketchum Library on the Biddeford campus.
