Endicott had a powerful start, taking a 20-point lead into halftime, with the Nor’easters at zero.
The Endicott Gulls’ impressive running attack was led by Michael Vecchione, who racked up 98 yards on just six carries. UNE’s Damien Jones outperformed him with a game-high 123 rushing yards.
Nathan Delgado, a UNE running back, had the ball most of the game with 78 yards on 16 attempts.
Chris Lang started the fourth quarter with a 15-yard touchdown pass to Berto Zepeda, finishing a seven-yard play. Jones also had a 66-yard run in this quarter.
“[Endicott] is the top 15 team in the country, but we got a bunch of guys that work their butt off day in and day out,” said wide receiver Aj Defillo, a senior nursing major.
“I don’t think the scoreboard showed how hard we played and how hard we worked, and all the preparations that went into it. They are a good team, but I don’t think we played up to our potential,” Defillo said.
The game wrapped up with another touchdown grab from Adam Goodfellow and a touchdown drive from Endicott. Charles Kennedy from Endicott scored the final touchdown, making the score 39-7.
The UNE Nor’easters play again on Saturday, October 26th, at Nichols. They are then back at Blue Bolt Field for a game against Curry at 1 p.m. on November 2nd.
Go Nor’easters!
