Compass is the University of New England’s central online platform that simplifies managing your academic, financial, and extracurricular responsibilities. Whether you’re a new student or looking to optimize your use of Compass, this guide covers everything you need to know to navigate the platform like a pro.
Logging In and Home Page
Logging into Compass will take you to the home page, your starting point for everything UNE-related. To access different features, click the three lines in the top left corner to open the main menu. From there, you can navigate through several key tabs designed to keep you on top of your academics, finances, and campus life.
Academic Resources
The first tab is Academic Resources, which is the main hub. Here, you’ll find Brightspace, the platform where all your course materials, assignments, and grades are housed. If you only remember one section of Compass, make it this one—it’s the backbone of your academic life.
Insights
Although Insights is listed in the menu, this feature is not available to students. It’s a specialized tool that provides analytics to administrators, advisers, and instructors for tracking progress across Brightspace. As a student, you can skip this section when navigating Compass.
My Account
The My Account section is your go-to for managing personal and financial information.
- Payment Portal: Easily access your tuition payments and enrollment deposits.
- Customization: You can create a personalized to-do list and save important web links.
- Details Tab: At the top of the page, click “Details” to view your academic and personal information or to review Ellucian’s privacy policy
Apps
The Apps tab is a hub for all the tools you need to stay connected and organized at UNE. Here’s a breakdown of what’s available:
- Box: A file-sharing platform (access may vary by user)
- Handshake: Explore job and internship opportunities, plus career resources
- Microsoft Teams: Attend online meetings
- Outlook Calendar: Stay on top of deadlines, events, and appointments
- Presence: Discover campus events
- Submit an ITS Request: Get help with any technical issues you may encounter
- UNE Email: Check your Outlook email for important university updates
- Library Services: Access digital and physical library resources for research
- Zoom: Attend online meetings
- Resident Portal: On-campus housing information
Select the “Explore My Apps” option for even more resources.
Community
The Community tab connects you with UNE’s broader campus life and resources:

My Self Service
The My Self Service tab offers tools for managing academic and personal records. It’s divided into multiple sections.
