SODEXO and The University of New England Global Education Program partnered up to host a Morocco Night in Decary Dining Hall. UU Halal Supermarket, a store in downtown Biddeford focused on Middle Eastern foods and ingredients, played a pivotal part in the night providing authentic exotic spices and cheeses for the event.

A signature experience opportunity for University of New England Students is the ability to study abroad at the UNE Campus in Morocco. The campus in Tangier, which opened in 2014, gives students the ability to take their regular courses while being immersed in the culture of Morocco at no additional cost.

On Wednesday February 24, 2016 a part of that opportunity came to the Biddeford Campus Dining Hall. Morocco Night was meant to serve as a way to celebrate Moroccan culture by providing students with the opportunity to experience traditional Moroccan cuisine.

“They have a crepe bar!” A student exclaimed as she joined her friends at a table in the lower dining area. Along with the Crepe Bar, other dinner options included Moroccan Fish Tagine, Cous Cous, Lamb Kebab Gyros, Labne Sauce, and Mergez Pizza. Judging by the line of students that extended almost out the door, Morocco Night’s biggest success was their Falafel.

Along with the variety of Moroccan dishes, students were able to enjoy Moroccan music and temporary tattoos from henna artists. UNE Global Education staff and students were available to answer questions about studying abroad.
