10 Local and Affordable things to try on or around Valentine’s Day

Not sure what to do for Valentine’s Day? Check out these 10 locations, including restaurants and indoor or outdoor activities.

Try New Cuisine:

#1: Cow Bell Burger Bar ($)

 140 Main Street, Biddeford (4.1 miles from campus)

Chow down on classic pub-style food or build the burger of your dreams. Vegan and gluten-free options are available. Choose to eat in, or take-out.

Free parking is available on the main street or take a two-minute walk from 28 Franklin Street. Free for the first two hours ($2 per hour afterwards).

Open from 11- 9pm on Valentine’s Day.

#2:Elements Café ($)

265 Main Street, Biddeford (4.3 miles from campus)

Ever fantasized about meeting the love of your life in a bookstore after locking eyes between the shelves? Well, bring your significant other here to fall in love all over again over locally roasted coffee and tea. Check out their live music series 6:30-8pm Fridays and Saturdays beginning February 16th or visit on the 15th for a night of cribbage 6-8pm.

Free parking is available on the main street or take a five-minute walk from a parking lot at 28 Franklin Street. Free for the first two hours. ($2 per hour afterwards).

#3: JIN Sushi and Ramen ($$)

15 Pepperell Square, Saco (4.7 miles from campus)

Offering sushi and ramen, this cozy restaurant is decorated with traditional Japanese art, a wall-length mural, and is sure to impress. Allow Chef Hwansoo to woo your date with his expert culinary skills and dozens of sushi, sashimi, and maki rolls to choose from.

#4: Que Houng ($)

 49 Main Street, Biddeford  (4.4 miles from campus)

This hole-in-the-wall, authentic Vietnamese restaurant features noodles, rice dishes, vermicelli, fresh spring rolls, shrimp, and pork. Take-out, or dine-in and enjoy the  aroma of traditional, fresh spices and mild incense. (Which might be a good distraction if you’re a messy eater like me.)

#5: Run of the Mill ($$)

100 Main St, Saco (4 miles from campus)

Located in the historic mill, this rustic restaurant serves hearty and delicious pub-style selections with 30 varieties of ale and lager.

Open from 11:30am -9pm on Valentine’s Day.

#6: Traditions Italian Restaurant ($$)

162 Main Street, Saco (4.9 miles from campus)

Located on the historical Saco main street, this charming corner eatery serves class Italian cuisine, steaks, and seafood. Choose to sit down in the dining room or the bar.

#7: Biddeford City Theatre  ($$)

If you’re looking to ‘get your fancy on,’ then consider watching a show at the historic Biddeford theatre. For those 21 and older, enjoy a night of live piano music and wine tasting on February 16th at 7pm.

#8: West Brook Ice Skating Rink

230-240 Pool Street, Biddeford (3.3 miles from campus)

Take your date ice skating for FREE! What’s more romantic than slipping and falling your way into love? Bring your own skates, hockey gear, or borrow some at no cost. This location is weather dependent, so make sure to check out its Facebook page for current hours.

#9: East Point Audubon Sanctuary

Biddeford Pool (2.8 miles from campus)

Go for a casual yet spectacular stroll at the very end of Biddeford Pool. The 27-acre sanctuary is one of the best birding areas around with breathtaking beautiful sites accompanied by the music of mother nature’s waves. It can get a little muddy, so beware. Parking is free but limited.

#10: Timber Point Trail

 140 Granite Point Rd, Biddeford (3.3 miles from campus)

This 1.4-mile gravel trail, owned by the Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge, leads past salt marshes, shrublands, rocky shores, and deciduous forest. Visit toward the evening to have a romantic, quiet stroll at sunset. Parking is free but limited.
