Everyday, walking through the Decary hallways, I see other students fitted up for class. While complimenting strangers in the halls is a step in the right direction toward appreciating our campus fashionistas, I decided that something had to be done to honor our campus fashion scene…
There was only one option—bringing UNE’s Stormin’ Style if you will, to the people!
This week we meet Brontë Weiss, a senior animal behavior major from Wisconsin, who sat with me to talk about her style, how she puts an outfit together, and her fashion icons.
Her interview outfit was fun and whimsical with a distinct “hope for spring” vibe as she stated early on in our conversation. Layering shirts and pants gave a sporty edge to the fit, juxtaposing cottage core with street styles to create an exciting look.

“I usually like baggy clothes- I really like to feel loose and free, as well as stylish. …I like to have flowy outside, tighter inside, and then flowy pants.” she said, describing how she put together the outfit.

We also talked about her fashion faves, the inspirations who shaped how she puts together an outfit. When asked she said:
“I think Billie Eilish just inspired the whole baggy clothes trend, like before her we were all skinny jeans… I would never go back to skinny jeans, never go back to that era. It’s a terrible era- and I’m very grateful that we’re more freeform.”
She showed off her Billie Eilish Converse to me saying, “I think people like Billie, definitely, inspired a whole change and shift in fashion.”
As a fashion enthusiast, I always wonder how people process their wardrobe and come up with new outfit ideas. Weiss told me; “I literally lay in bed thinking like, these are the clothes that I have, I have my closet in my head and I’m like ‘I wanna wear these tomorrow’…”
Lastly I asked Weiss for a piece of fashion advice she’d like to share with the class. “Layers. I think layering is super cool. I don’t have enough stuff to layer. Like you can never have enough stuff to layer, but I love layering, I love layering shirts especially. I think, that’s how I do it.”
“I never really explored my style until college. I didn’t really know what I wanted, and then HotTopic came out, I live near a HotTopic, so I can like take inspiration from there too.” Reflecting on her fashion journey Weiss said, “I think I played with my hair more in high school ‘cause I was in sports. Just like [wore] athleisure, athletic clothes. Now I’m not in sports, and I can be like ‘woah… jeans are acceptable to wear? That’s crazy.’”
